The Standards Behind Every Jar

Cowenture is formulated, manufactured, and packed in New Zealand. Clean air, rich pasture, and strict national standards around how ingredients are raised and produced mean the raw materials that go into every jar meet a level of quality we couldn't easily replicate anywhere else. The Wagyu tallow and Mānuka honey that anchor our formula are both native to this environment - keeping the entire supply chain local means we can keep it short and traceable.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration maintains a register of cosmetic manufacturing facilities that have formally identified themselves to the FDA and committed to operating under documented processes for ingredient handling, sanitation, and product safety. Registered facilities are subject to inspection and are held to a recognised operating standard.

It's an important distinction: FDA facility registration is about where a product is made. It doesn't mean the FDA has evaluated or approved the cosmetic itself - no cosmetic product is FDA-approved. What it does mean is that the facility making your balm isn't operating outside the system.

Tallow balms have grown quickly as a category, and a lot of what's on the market today is produced in home kitchens or small operations with no formal oversight. That approach can turn out lovely products — but it can also produce inconsistent ones, and it leaves customers with no independent way to check how the product was made.

We chose to manufacture Cowenture in an FDA-registered facility in New Zealand because a balm you put on your face and body every day should be held to a real manufacturing standard. It's also the reason our formula stays consistent from batch to batch, so the jar you buy today feels the same as the one you'll buy a year from now.

Every batch of Cowenture is tested by an independent third-party laboratory before it leaves the facility. That matters because the people doing the checking are separate from the people doing the making - so the results aren't influenced by anyone with a reason to pass them.

We test every batch because the ingredients that make Cowenture premium - Wagyu tallow, Mānuka honey MGO 829+, and the supporting botanicals - are only worth using if the finished product is consistent, stable, and safe to apply.
